For Your Everyday Life

Companionship

Life Is Better Shared

Personal, non-medical companionship, outings and practical support for older adults on Mayne Island.

A Little Company Can Make a Big Difference

Sometimes what we need isn’t care – simply someone to share the day with. Someone to have coffee with, take a walk, go shopping, visit somewhere beautiful, tackle a small project together, or just sit and talk.

Senior Companionship is for independent older adults on Mayne Island who’d enjoy regular company, practical support, or someone to join them in the things they still want to do.

If your parent lives on Mayne while you live elsewhere, knowing there’s someone local they trust – and genuinely enjoy spending time with – can offer real peace of mind.

What We Can Do Together

Companionship & Conversation

Coffee, games, reading, stories, cooking together - or simply spending time together.

Walks & Local Outings

Beaches, the lighthouse, Japanese Garden, Bennett Bay, cafés and markets - at your pace.

Errands & Appointments

Groceries, pharmacy, appointments - done together, not simply done for you.

Technology Help

Phones, tablets, FaceTime, photos and streaming. (Not passwords or banking.)

Decluttering & Organising

Cupboards, paperwork, photographs and keepsakes - in manageable steps.

Moving & Downsizing Support

Planning, sorting and coordinating a transition. Practical support, not lifting.

Outings & Little Adventures

Longer days out, or trips to Pender and Galiano Island.

Animals & Nature

Optional time at the farm - horses, minis, alpacas and goats. Never required.

Something Special

Your Story

I can spend time helping you capture your memories and life story for your family – conversations about childhood, work, travel and the moments that were important, together with photographs. This can become a written keepsake for your children and grandchildren.

Larger Life Story projects are quoted separately, as writing happens outside our visits.

Peace of Mind When You Can’t Be Nearby

A parent can be perfectly capable of living independently, and still benefit from regular companionship, activity and someone trusted nearby. With your parent’s permission, I can send a simple note after a visit so you know how the day went.

Someone You Can Feel Comfortable With

I’m a registered counsellor and mediator with a B.Sc. in Psychology and years of professional experience working with people through different stages of life – counselling, mediation, human resources and conflict resolution.

I live on Mayne Island with my family and animals. I value genuine conversation, curiosity, humour and treating people as individuals – never defined by their age.

Companionship, Not Personal Care

I'm a Senior Companion — not a caregiver, care aide or medical professional. Senior Companionship is designed for people who live independently but would enjoy company, activity and practical support.

In practice, that means I don't provide:
  • Bathing or dressing
  • Toileting
  • Lifting or transfers
  • Medication administration
  • Medical or nursing care

If you need personal or medical care, another type of service would be a better fit.

Simple, Flexible Visits

$50 CAD / hour

2-hour minimum booking

2 hours$100
3 hours$150
4 hours$200

Visits can be weekly, every other week, or as needed. Longer outings and day trips are possible. Ferry fares, admission fees or activity costs are additional.

Let’s Meet First

Companionship is personal – it’s important that we genuinely enjoy spending time together.

A complimentary 30-minute Meet & Greet gives you (and family, if you’d like) a chance to meet me, ask questions, and see whether it feels like a good fit.

You Asked, I Answered

What is your professional Background?

Registered Counsellor with ACCT, Canada; B.Sc. Psychology (FernUniversität Hagen); mediation and conflict resolution training through the Justice Institute of BC; Certified Reiki Practitioner.

Do you provide medical or personal care?

No. Senior Companionship is non-medical – see “Companionship, Not Personal Care” above for what’s included and what isn’t.

Can my parent book this themselves, or can I arrange it?

Either way. Many clients book for themselves; adult children living elsewhere often arrange and pay for visits on a parent’s behalf.

What areas do you cover?

I mainly work on Mayne Island, but longer visits to Pender or Galiano Island may also be possible by arrangement. If you live on one of the neighbouring islands and think my services might be a good fit, please feel free to contact me and we can see what might work.

How do we get started?

With a complimentary 30-minute Meet & Greet – no obligation, just a conversation to see if it’s a good fit.

Would a Little More Company Make Life Even Better?

Feel free to call, text or email – whether it’s for you or for someone you care about, I’m happy to talk it through.
